Pre-wedding Jitters? 5 ways to tackle those nerves ahead of your wedding ceremony

Alright, let's face it—pre-wedding nerves are totally normal! As a celebrant, I've seen it all, and trust me, you're not alone in feeling those butterflies doing the cha-cha in your stomach. Most couples are actually very nerv-cited (nervous and excited) in the lead up to the big day, particularly when it comes to the wedding ceremony. Normally it has to do with either a fear of being the centre of attention or it not going perfectly.

Fear not, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve to help you both shake off those jitters and enjoy every moment leading up to your big day.

  1. Talk It Out: Communication is your superpower! Chat it up with your partner. Share those nervous feelings; chances are, they're feeling it too. Together, you can laugh about the funny jitters and reassure each other that you've got this. Knowing you're in it together makes a world of difference.

  2. Find Your Zen Zone: Take a breather and find your zen. Whether it's yoga, a walk in nature, or jamming out to your favourite tunes, do something that calms your soul. It's all about finding your happy place amidst the chaos. Oh, and bonus tip: deep breaths work wonders!

  3. Delegate & Chill: You've got a squad for a reason! Delegate those last-minute tasks to your crew or planner. Trust them to handle the nitty-gritty while you focus on soaking in the excitement. It's your day—let others help ease the load.

  4. Embrace Imperfections: Perfectly imperfect—let that be your mantra! No wedding is flawless, and that's what makes it uniquely yours. Embrace the little hiccups and know that they'll make for the best stories later.

  5. Visualise Happiness: Picture the good stuff! Close your eyes and envision the love, the laughter, the tears of joy. Visualising the happiness waiting for you on the other side of those nerves can be incredibly calming.

Remember, nerves are just a sign that something truly amazing is about to happen! So, breathe, laugh, and take it all in. Your wedding day is going to be a beautiful whirlwind, nerves and all. Embrace it, cherish it, and get ready for the most epic day of your lives. You've got this! 🎉💍✨
